Howard E. Burhans

Howard E. Burhans, 91, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Moravian Manner in Lititz, PA. Born in Milton, WI, he was the son of the late Elsie and Charles Burhans.

Married on February 25, 1956, Howard was the husband to the late Frances E. (Schumacher) Burhans. Frances passed away in March 2003.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Janesville, WI and of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster, PA.

Howard is survived by 3 daughters, Norma Ferdinand (Cameron), of Lancaster, PA, Barbara Farnham (Jim) of San Bruno, CA, and Shirley Kruenegel (Charles) of Manteca, CA; a son, Gary Burhans of Bonneville, MO; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Harley in March, 2003. In addition, he had 3 sisters, Margaret Burhans, Gladys Andreski, and Eva Gilbert; and 2 brothers, Jim Burhans and Ed Burhans. His first wife, Jean Marie Burhans, preceded him in death in 1955.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 302 N. Parker Drive, Janesville, WI 53545 on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11am. Friends and Family will be received from 10-11am at the church. Interment will be immediately following the Service at Oak Hill Cemetery.
